Tom Small has been a financial advisor for over 30 years and has held many leadership positions and has been given many prestigious awards over his career. He is a past President and board member of the Financial Planning Association of Greater Michigan, past member of the Rotary Club of East Lansing, member of the Greater Lansing Estate Planning Council/West Michigan Estate Planning Council director, past facilitator in the Junior Achievement programs, past coach of many sports in the Okemos community where he had resided for 30 years.
Tom received his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Bentley University in Waltham, MA, along with his Associate of Science degree in Management. He attained the designation of Certified Financial Planner, which is generally thought of as the highest qualification for the financial planning industry. He has spoken in front of thousands of people on many different topics, such as: investment planning, retirement planning, estate planning, college planning and Women & Investing. He has also written articles for over 10 years for publications like the Greater Lansing Business Monthly, and hosted workshops to help many people determine whether to take advantage of early retirement offers, assess their preparedness and ultimately take the leap into retirement.
David Hart, CFP®

David joined Michigan Money Management in 2021 after spending the early part of his career working for Guggenheim Investments in Chicago, where he most recently held the title Regional Vice President. In that role, he was responsible for business development and intermediary initiatives of Guggenheim’s core fixed income and multi-credit strategies to family offices, private wealth management teams, and institutional consultants. During his tenure at Guggenheim, he was able to develop expertise in Fixed Income, specifically Asset-Backed Securities, CLOs, and Whole-Business Securitization.
After nearly a decade in Chicago, David and his wife decided it was time for a homecoming. After meeting Tom and the Team at Michigan Money Management, it became clear that this was where he wanted to be.
In his current role, he is responsible for all aspects of the client service and investment due diligence. Along with Tom, he helps guide the team's wealth management practice, where they are both actively involved in developing each client's customized strategic portfolio allocations to help clients pursue their financial goals short term and long term. Additionally, he is responsible for performing initial and ongoing investment manager selection and asset allocation modeling.
He received his bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University, and holds through LPL the Series 7 and 66 FINRA registrations.
Dave and his wife, Kathleen reside in Okemos. In their free time, Kathleen and Dave enjoy traveling, cooking, wine, golf and spending time outdoors.
Marlena Kreis
Client Service Associate
Marlena is an experienced Client Service Associate with a demonstrated history of working in the investment management/insurance industry for over 25 years. She is a strong finance professional as well as having prior underwriting professional liability experience. Her responsibilities include periodic and required minimum distributions, contributions, Roth conversions and advisory fee billing.
Marlena and husband Chris own a small farm north of St. Johns. They enjoy gardening, canning, travel, and outdoor activities.

Anna is a diligent & dedicated Client Service Associate. She has over 12 years of marketing, sales, and customer service experience. She handles client communications and seeks to ensure a personal and efficient relationship between our advisors and their clients.
In her free time, she enjoys writing and traveling with her husband.
